Dr Souleymane Sidi TRAORE

Dr Souleymane Sidi TRAORE was born in Doumanaba, District of Sikasso, Mali in the 14th June 1983. He received the High School Diploma (Malian Baccalaureate) in June 2001. He started the same year (October 2001) the university at the Faculty of Letters, languages, Arts and Human Science where he studied Geography. After four (4) years, the hold a Bachelor Degree (Honor) in Geography Land Use Planning in 2005. In 2006 he was appointed at the Joint GIS and Remote Sensing ICRISAT1-IER2 facilities (SotubaGIS) as an Apprentice working for ICRISAT under SM-CRSP3 and PN-CRSP4 for six (6) months. After this internship he stayed in the same lab as a volunteer Research Support for 2 years (2007-2008). During this period he participated in many research and studies operated by the lab like Soil survey and mapping in the Office du Niger zone (Malibya I and II). In 2009, he was appointed at ICRISAT as a GIS Technician working for ILRI5 under the project “In-Sutu Conservation of endemic ruminant livestock in West Africa” for 1 year. Concurrently he started a Master training in Natural Resource Management at the High Institute of Formation and Applied Research (ISFRA), Department of Biology University of Bamako, Mali where he graduated in April 2011 with Honor. In September 2011 he obtained one of Wascal doctoral fellowship to study climate change and Land Use at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana 2012-2015. After his graduation Dr Traore was appointed a researcher at SotubaGIS working in the Natural Resources Management team under the PASE-2 Project (Projet d’Appui à l’Amélioration de la Gouvernance de la filière coton dans sa nouvelle configuration institutionnelle et à la productivité et à la durabilité des Systèmes d’Exploitation en zone cotonnière « PASE II- volet Recherche-Développement). In September 2016 Dr Traore was appointed as Lecturer at the department of Geography, Faculty of History and Geography of the University of Social Sciences and Management of Bamako (USSGB) and Associate Researcher at SotubaGIS. In September 2017, he was nominated as a Senior Lecturer of University of Social Sciences and Management of Bamako.
